Instagram Unfollowers Checker

Find out who doesn't follow you back, and who stopped following you, without handing your login to an app. Instagram will send you a copy of your followers and following lists. Drop that file here and this page sorts it for you, right in your browser.

How to get your Instagram followers file

  1. In the Instagram app or on the website, open Accounts Center, then Your information and permissions, then Download your information.
  2. Choose Some of your information and tick Followers and following. Leaving everything else out keeps the file small.
  3. Pick Download to device, set the date range to All time and the format to JSON, then create the files.
  4. Instagram notifies you when it's ready, often within minutes but sometimes longer. Download the .zip and drop it above. You don't need to unzip it.

Menu names move around now and then. If you can't find them, search the app's settings for "Download your information".

Why not just use an unfollowers app?

Most unfollower apps ask you to log in with your Instagram password, then scrape your account. That breaks Instagram's terms and can get your account rate-limited or locked, and you're trusting a stranger with your login. Your own data download contains the same lists, comes straight from Instagram, and never leaves your device here. This page reads the file with JavaScript in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

What each list means

Things to know

The lists are a snapshot from the moment Instagram built your file, so very recent changes won't show. Deactivated accounts can still appear, and a username that changed shows under its new name. The dates show when the follow happened, as recorded by Instagram.

This page is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. It only reads files you choose, and it doesn't keep them.

Planning estimate only. Results use the list prices shown and may differ from your actual bill. Terms

Frequently asked questions

How do I see who doesn't follow me back on Instagram?

Request your data from Instagram (Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information, choosing Followers and following in JSON), then drop the downloaded zip into this page. It lists everyone you follow who isn't in your followers.

Is it safe? Do you see my data?

The file is read in your browser with JavaScript and never uploaded. There's no login and nothing to install. You can turn off your internet after the page loads and it still works.

Can it tell me who unfollowed me?

Yes, if you have two downloads from different dates. Open 'Compare with an older download' and add the older one; the checker lists who was following you then but isn't now.

Why is someone listed who I know follows me?

Your download is a snapshot. If they followed you after Instagram built the file, request a fresh download. Changed usernames can also cause a mismatch for a short time.

Do I need to unzip the download?

No. Drop the .zip as it is. You can also drop just followers_1.json and following.json, or the HTML versions.

Does it work for Threads?

Not yet. Threads followers come in a separate folder in the download and are ignored for now.
