Privacy policy

The short version
Every Toolantern tool runs in your web browser. Text, numbers and files you enter into a tool are processed on your device and are never sent to us or stored by us. Toolantern does not currently show ads, use analytics or set any cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated first and, where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent.
Who is responsible
The controller of personal data processed through this website is the operator of Toolantern, reachable through the contact page.
Data processed when you visit
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (IP address, browser type, requested page, time, referring page) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare keeps these logs only briefly under its own policies; we do not combine them with other data.
Advertising (when enabled)
We plan to show ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are enabled:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform before any advertising cookies are set, and personalised ads are only shown with consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Without consent, Google may show non-personalised ads that use cookies only for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregate reporting.
Your choices
Use the "Privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page to review or withdraw consent at any time once the consent tool is active. Residents of US states with consumer privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others) can use the same link to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising; we will treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as such an opt-out. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Who receives data
- Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting and security) — technical request data, on every visit.
- Google LLC (advertising) — cookie identifiers, IP address, device and page information, only once ads are enabled and, where required, only with consent.
Both are based in the United States. Transfers from the EEA, UK and Switzerland rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and/or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. In the EEA and UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. Because we do not keep accounts or tool inputs, we usually hold no personal data that identifies you, but we will answer any request sent through the contact details above. We do not sell personal information for money.
Children
Toolantern is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will update this page before our practices change and revise the date at the top.
